The Construction: A Work of Art

Early December, when the outside temperatures dip, the construction begins. For six weeks, several dozen workers build the complex. The first step in the construction is the foundation of the deck or floor. The deck is two feet thick and must be very hard and strong to support the heavy weight of the hotel. Once blown, the snow is retained by a wooden wall to strengthen the structure. Depending on the temperature, it usually takes three days to solidify the structure.
