Health Information Technology (HIT) as Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) were implemented under the HITECH Act (2009). It happened to improve healthcare quality by digitizing (computerizing) health information in EHR and sharing it among providers through the HIE technology.

Analyze how EHR and HIE technologies have contributed to the improvement of healthcare quality in terms of increased patient safety, reduced medical errors, preventing adverse events/drug reactions, providing clinical decision support, facilitating Care Coordination, and encouraging patient engagements.
