Hello,

Based on the requirements below please create a flow chart using LucidCharts that represents the process flow for an employee at a company choosing Health Insurance options as a new employee. *Tip - I suggest drawing this on paper first.

The idea behind this exercise is that your Human Resources (HR) Benefits department is going to start offering employees Health Benefits. It is your job to create a flow chart that will be used later by the Information Technology (IT) department to create the web pages needed for the employees to make selections. To ensure the IT department understands what is being asked by the HR department. You are designing this process but starting with a flow chart.

Employees must be able to accomplish the following

  • Add Beneficiaries
  • Allocate Life Insurance to someone
  • Choose Vision Insurance with the following options
    • Employee only
    • Family
    • Waived
  • Allocate Vision Coverage to dependents
  • Choose Dental Insurance with the following options
    • Employee only
    • Family
    • Waived
  • Allocate Dental Coverage
  • Choose a Health Plan
    • PPO
    • HMO
    • SAVER you should only be able to choose this if under the age of 65
    • Waive
  • Choose type of health insurance coverage (if not waived)
    • Employee Only
    • Employee plus spouse
    • Family
    • Waived
  • Allocate Health Insurance

Next the employee has the option to contribute to flex medical accounts.

  • Add an amount to Flex Medical only if HMO, PPO or Waive insurance are chosen
  • Add an amount to Flex Dependent
  • Add an amount to Health Savings account only if the SAVER plan was chosen. This options is not available if you choose HMO or PPO.

Some things to keep in mind as you go through this:

  • You will have one start point
  • You will have only one end-point but can restart open enrollment
  • You should never leave the employee where they have not completed through to the end
  • If an employee elects to waive insurance, then you would not take them to the screen where they allocate insurance.
