The most important reason as to why Buckman developed a KM system is because he realized that there are many components in his business and in order to maximize profits everyone in the company should be knowledgeable in the field. One example is that he said if you're a salesman then you are at the office 0% of the time. This is important because if they are never in the office then it is hard for them to gain much new knowledge on new products. Because of reasons like this, he decided to make the forum where anyone in the company, no matter where you are in the world, can access all the knowledge available and will not have to be scrambling and running to search for an answer. There were many ways mentioned as to how he motivated his employees to share information but one of the most important ones was giving them incentives. In addition, creating a culture of trust and knowledge sharing was vital for his company to successfully use and add to the forum. In my opinion, I think that I would thrive in such an environment. I would love to work in that environment because every day is different from dealing with different types of people to dealing with problems that you have never encountered, and having a forum like that would help my day-to-day work because I could learn from other people's experiences and know how to react if I find myself in the same situation as them.
