Hello. I hope you're doing great today tutor :) I'm a grade 10 student planning to become a certified dental hygienist in Calgary Alberta Canada. But you see there's a issue and I'm having a very stressful difficult time right now as a grade 10 student and searching about this for days but nothing is helping at all :( in Calgary Alberta Canada there aren't any College or Universities not even private ones that offers a dental hygiene program at all. And I'm not able to travel far like in Edmonton or any other. I tried searching a lot but nothing shows up at all as my goal is to become a certified dental hygienist who can work legally in a dental office or clinic. I've also added one answer that I got from another tutor as can you please please help me with this? Please give me your best advice or opinion on what I should do because I'm very worried and have no one to help me with this too :( Since the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam (NDHCE) is a required exam for all dental Hygienists in Canada to obtain their license to practice. This exam is administrated by the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board (NDHCB). And it is known in order to be eligible to take NDHCE I must completed one of the following which is a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC), or an approved dental hygiene program in the United States or other country, or a dental assistant program with additional coursework in dental hygiene. And I'm thinking the last one is a good one which is the dental assistant program with additional coursework in dental hygiene, since my first plan was to go to the SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) college their dental Assisting program since they don't offer any dental hygiene program, then do the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam (NDHCE) the getting my license from CRDHA, but it seems like this plan sadly won't work since completing a dental assistant program alone will not make me eligible to take the NDHCE. But I'm having a very hard time to find a dental assistant program and have taken additional coursework in dental hygiene to be eligible. You know as a grade 10 student who's doing this alone is very stressful and overwhelming for me as I dont know how to express about this so I hope you understand I'm having a very difficult time as I'm worried on how can I make this happen? :( Please help me with this I would be very grateful and so happy if you could please tell me what steps I should follow in Calgary Alberta Canada to become a certified dental hygienist and what school or anything I should go to or do because I need someone's suggestion and the path I should follow please :(The other tutor's response: "I understand your concerns and the importance of finding accurate information about dental hygiene programs in Calgary, Alberta. Unfortunately, after conducting thorough research, it appears that there are currently no colleges or universities in Calgary offering a dental hygiene program. Given your situation and your preference for not traveling far, pursuing an online dental hygiene program could be a potential solution. Many reputable institutions offer online dental hygiene programs that allow students to completed coursework remotely and then fulfill practical training requirements through in- person clinical experiences arranged locally. Here are some steps you can take to explore online dental hygiene programs:1. Research Accredited Online Programs: Look for online dental hygiene programs that are accredited by recognized accrediting bodies such as the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). Accredited programs ensure that you receive a quality education that meets industry standards. 2. Contact Admissions Offices: Reach out to admissions offices of potential online programs to inquire about their curriculum, admission requirements, tuition fees, and any on-campus or clinical components required.3. Verify Clinical Placement Opportunities: Confirm whether the online program offers clinical placement opportunities in Calgary or nearby areas for hands-on training. It's essential to ensure that you'll have access to the necessary practical experiences to become a licensed dental hygienist.4. Prepare for National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam: Once you completed your online program and fulfill all requirements, you can prepare for and take the National Dental Hygiene Certification Exam to obtain your license.5. Seek Financial Aid Options: Explore financial aid options such as scholarships, grants, and student loans to help cover the costs of tuition and other expenses associated with your education. While pursuing an online dental hygiene program may require careful planning and coordination, it can offer you the flexibility to achieve your career goals without the need to travel far from Calgary. Remember to thoroughly research and verify the accreditation and reputation of any online program you consider to ensure a quality education. If you're still uncertain or have specific questions, I recommend reaching out to educational advisors or career counselors who can provide personalized guidance and support tailored to your situation."
