I believe that Legalzoom is committing unauthorized practice of law because they are giving legal advice and who is to say the lawyers on that page are even licensed to practice law in the state in which you reside. Many states are similar in becoming licensed, but some states have different requirements like we learned in our last unit. Rule 1.1 Competence of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct (ABA, 2016) a lawyer has to have the knowledge and skill to represent a client, this is determined when a lawyer takes their bar exam. On Legalzoom you are getting advice from a Customer Experience Representative, this person is not licensed and they are committing unauthorized practice of law.
