Hello, I need help with this chemical engineering problem. P.S. the spatial profile in the d) question should be executed woth excel. Please i need every step for the resolution.
Consider a model of a cylindrical pulmonary capillary capable of exchanging oxygen through its surface with the surrounding air. Inside the capillary of radius r blood flows with a volumetric flow rate Q. The transport of matter at the interface between the gaseous and liquid phases of the blood can be described knowing the permeability of the capillary membrane (km) and the gradient of concentration between the two phases. Outside the capillary, the pressure of the gaseous oxygen (P02,a) is constant along the length of the capillary.
a) Write the mass balance for the oxygen dissolved in the blood of the capillary considering that the concentration of oxygen in the liquid phase varies along the capillary of length L.
b) Using the balance in point a), determine the expression for the spatial profile of the concentration of the gas dissolved in the blood. We assume that the oxygen concentration at the capillary inlet (x = 0) is in equilibrium with a partial pressure of oxygen equal to P02,b.
c) Determine the expression of the total flow of oxygen through the exchange surface of a single capillary of length L.
d) Plot the spatial profile of the oxygen concentration inside the capillary and calculate the oxygen flow for a single capillary of length L assuming the values of the parameters shown in Table 1.
