The most important takeaways from this class are the ability to analyze and understand the situation in its entirety, value others and try to understand their perspective, and make decisions based on fact and what is fair and just to myself and others without allowing my personal feelings or emotions to limit my insight. From a professional standpoint, this class has been very beneficial in learning the signs and red flags to look for and how to prepare myself for the hard choices to come. The ability to know when someone is rationalizing or living beyond their means are two really big things to watch, but also the personality traits that are often involved in fraudulent behavior and the ones who are likely to be led astray, and the situations that create that opportunity. Following the rules is very important, but not at the cost of the greater good, and this class offers the knowledge needed to find the much-needed balance between virtue ethics and deontological ethics. I am sure I will think back on this class in those moments when its hard to say no or stand up for what is right and the right thing to do but knowing that regardless of the consequences, I have made a decision I can live with and am proud of. This class has taught me what to look for in an employer and to ask about the ethical environment and pay close attention to behavior and actions of management before allowing myself to get too comfortable or secure in my personal finances. Most of all, this class has provided the necessary resources to find the answers to lifes tough questions and organizations who will support and assist me in maintaining an ethical life and career. For all of this I am truly grateful and have enjoyed this class immensely. I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors!
