Use the below Excel sheet to assist you with this week's homework assignment. m/m/1 and m/m/2 simulations are provided in the sheet. With the sheet, answer the following questions:

M/M/1 tab-

1. Design a simulation model to simulate an M/M/1 queue system in a computer program of your choice.
2. Implement the simulation model by specifying the arrival rate () and service rate () as input parameters.
3. Simulate the system for a given time period and record the statistics such as average waiting time, queue length, and system utilization.

M/M/2 tab-

1. Extend the simulation model from your M/M/1 queue to simulate an M/M/2 queue system.
2. Modify the simulation model to consider two servers with different service rates (1 and 2) and a shared queue.
3. Simulate the system for a given time period and collect relevant performance measures such as average waiting time, queue length, and system utilization.

Summary tab-

1. Discuss the impact of having multiple servers on the system's performance and the advantages of an M/M/2 queue over an M/M/1 queue. Points to consider: - Discuss the scenarios in which an M/M/1 queue is more appropriate than an M/M/2 queue and vice versa. -Investigate the relationship between system utilization and the average waiting time for both queue models.
