There is a saying, "it is not what you know but who you know," Relationships in lifo are significant for my success in my career. This class malerial also stresses the importance of relationships through confict and negotiation. Bridging is one tool that Gerzon expresses in his book. This includes setting aside differences and partnering to achiove each other's goals. You may not always tike someone or how they work, but setting aside different beliots to build relationships helps solve conflicts much quicker. Through this relationship. building, you can understand how the other party works best and reacts to certain situations. This lots you be prepared and understand how to approach a negotiation when conflict arises. Chapter B of HBS expressed the importance of relationships because it creates trugt in agreements and negotiabions. Bulding relabionships with people, whother I have differences or not, is something I take pride in doing daily. Within my organization, I commit daily to connecting with someone, checking on my coworkers, and complimenting someone. Integrating these three actions is the first step to building a relationship, These people will want to work with you because you show respect and care about thern. From these threo actions, a connection/relationship is built over time because side conversations continue to buld untly you fully understand and know this person. It is a step-by-step process, but once you reach a full understanding of each other, it is much easier to work and operate together. I may not always agree with their beliefs of how they are dressed, but I sot that aside to build a relationship to make the work orvironmont much smoother. These people realize that I truly care about my work and want to build trust with them to be successful. It may not bo oasy, but it is essontial within an organization. This also relates to being a sales rep because I have to build relationships with poople that I would not hang out with outside of work, but I must make an effort to be successful.
