Today's task for the tutorial is an independent research activity. The output that 1 expect of you is the following: a mini research document (1-2 pages or so of text, not including regression output tables). The mini research document should be based on the National Labour Force Survey, available in STATA by typing "sysuse nlsw 88 ". The variables in the dataset are the following: Variables For your information, SMSA refers to a standard metropolitan statistical area (or SMSA), which is an integrated economic and social unit having a large population nucleus. The c_city dummy is equal to 1 if the subject lives in central city location and 0 otherwise. Being a "union worker" means that the person is a member of a labour union. NLS id is just a personal identifier of the subject in the observation. The rest of the variables should be self explanatory. Upon exploring the data, ask yourself one interesting research question that you can answer with the data. Such question can be, for instance "do wages and experience determine union membership or not?". (Naturally, do not ask this question - this was just an example. It wouldn't even be appropriate to address it with OLS anyways, you'd need a probit or logit when explaining binary variables - this is something we will learn how to do soon.) After asking your research question, state it in an introduction section. Explain why you think it's an interesting research question. On scholar.google.com, find at least three papers that are related to your research question and very briefly cite them. Then, in the results section, please note down the regression study that you have chosen to do. Explain why and explain what you expect to see in the results. Then give the results of your regression and analyse them. Interpret all the parts of your result. If you got what you expected, speculate why. If you did not, speculate on why not
