Question:
Hello everyone, my name is Debra and I am from Calgary. Prior to enrolling in the Supply Chain Management program at SAIT, I worked as an Operations Coordinator within the telecommunications industry. I was primarily responsible for managing address data, along with supporting some geospatial mapping. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books that are not textbooks, movies, going to concerts, and spending time with friends and family.
My results from the Keirsey assessment stated that I am a Guardian (yellow). The key attributes of this group include being factual, cautious, dependable, logical, and detailed, which I would definitely agree with as describing me. It also specifically calls out that Guardians are naturally talented at managing goods and services, including supervision, maintenance, and supply. Guardians also tend to get the job done, have an eye for detail, and while they are cognizant of the need for change, they prefer to go about it cautiously. I believe all of these elements can be great for business and could specifically relate to my future career in Supply Chain Management, hopefully lending to my ability to effectively perform within the industry.
During Professional Practice, I hope to learn more about the different careers in Supply Chain Management that I might not have considered yet. As well, how to effectively manage the multiple relationships that would be involved when working within the industry. It would also be interesting to learn more about the ethical and social responsibility side of things; how it might be different when speaking about it specifically in Supply Chain instead of business in general.
