A Decentralized Ridesharing Application
Ridesharing is gaining popularity and has become one of the means of
transport across the world. There are many ridesharing apps available in the
market with Uber and Ola being at the forefront of all. However, all these apps
have companies as intermediaries controlling the services they provide to their
users. The intermediary has total control over the user's data. In such apps,
there is always a risk of user privacy being compromised as well as other data
security threats. Furthermore, they charge fees for services which are often too
high. For these reasons, it is desirable to have an application that allows users to
interact with the service providers without any intermediary. For a ridesharing
application, this would mean riders directly interacting with drivers
or the
service owner
without involving any third party. User privacy and security issues
can then be addressed using a blockchain to store transactions along with other
technologies.
This project is about exploring the aforementioned idea and coming up with a
prototype of the Dapp
distributed application
At a minimum, for the first
iteration, the project team is expected to deliver
Smart contracts with required functionalities to interact between user and
ride service provider
Front
end to interact with Smart contracts
Thoroughly tested and deployed ridesharing Dapp in any public
blockchain
Testnets or localhost clients
Project Objectives
By tackling important concerns connected to user privacy, data security, and expensive service costs imposed by middlemen, Manish Singh, a tutor of Weltec who a field of Cryptography is also and Blockchain expert, hopes to transform the ridesharing sector Conventional ridesharing companies like Uber and Ola have centralized control over customer data and transactions, thereby posing possible privacy concerns and higher consumer prices.
The client's main issue is depending too much on middlemen who handle user data and transactions, therefore compromising privacy and security and raising service costs at once. This app will be like a social media app that can be shared with friends that established trust between users

This Capstone project aims to provide a platform whereby drivers and riders may connect directly, therefore guaranteeing data privacy, security, and low costs.
Delivering a distributed ridesharing app, the project will solve their fundamental problems with user privacy, data security, and costly intermediary service charges. Smart contracts to enable safe, open, and automated transactions between riders and drivers; a user

end mobile app to enable seamless interaction with the smart contracts; and deployment of the DApp on a public blockchain to ensure transparency, security, and decentralization constitute the main deliverables.
