Write annoted bibliography For this assignment you will write an annotated bibliography for your Field Research Project. Your annotated bibliography (and ultimately your final paper) must include a minimum of four academic peer-reviewed scholarly sources not assigned in class reading. The purpose of this assignment is to learn more about your Field Research organization. By collecting sources for a bibliography and writing annotations for each source, you not only learn to read each work of scholarship critically, but ask yourself how the source will help you understand and analyze your worksite. It will help you identify important workplace issues, learn what experts in the field are finding in their studies of work and organizations, and assist you with developing your own point of view when you are writing your final Field Research Project Paper (assignment is in Week 4). A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, websites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. They differ from "references" or "works cited" - which list sources you included in parenthetic citation in your paper. A works cited/references page is due with the week four paper; this week's assignment is an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography goes a step further that just listing source information. It provides a summary and an assessment of the source as well as the APA source information. Your annotated bibliography for your SOC 455 Field Research Project will do the following: Provide Full Reference, using the APA reference format. Write and punctuate correctly, citing all necessary information. DO NOT rely on auto format programs. You very likely will have to edit how the source is format and supply additional information. For example, online sources often capitalize all aspects of a reference or use a mix of formats. What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? Paraphrase the information, rather than copy/paste or quote: No quotes. Evaluate the source. How does the source compare with other sources in the (your) bibliography? Is the information reliable and why? How was information or data collected? Is this source biased or objective? Explain how its content pertains to your week four paper topic and for which of the 19 elements of the assignment you plan to use it. Parameters Each source chosen must focus on organizations and the workplace and have been published 2010-present. Acceptable sources: scholarly peer-reviewed books, chapters, and academic and/or professional journals. Alphabetize your annotated bibliography. Do NOT number. The annotations for each source are written in two paragraph form, directly under the reference. One paragraph will summarize and the other will assess the usefulness of the source. You will be graded using SOALS writing criteria, your adherence to APA or MLA formatting, and the content of your annotation.
