Storage Allocation

A warehouse has $8$ storage bays each of size $20$ x $20$ ft$.$ Dock P$1$ is the only dock

for material movement through the storage bays. Three products A$,$ B$,$ and C are

to be stored in the warehouse with only one type of product stored in a given

storage bay.

A and B require $2$ bays each. C requires $4$ bays. Products A$,$ B$,$ and C enter and

leave the warehouse at the rate of $1000,500,$ and $300$ loads per week respectively.

Allocate the products to the storage bays such that the total travel distance is

minimized. Calculate the average distance per trip.
