A simple beam $AB$ of span length $L=22ft($Fig$.5-15)$ supports a uniform load of intensity $q=1\mathrm{.}5\frac{k}{f}t$ and a concentrated load $P=12k.$ The beam is constructed of glued laminated wood with width $b=8\mathrm{.}75$ in$.$ and depth $d=27$ in$.$ The uniform load $q$ includes the weight of the beam. Determine the maximum tensile and compressive stresses in the beam due to bending.
