HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT:

Come up with your own business process project that demonstrates you understand critical tasks and non$-$critical tasks using a diagram like the one above, and a two page minimum paper describing why you selected the tasks either critical or non$-$critical. Explain how the use of critical and non$-$critical tasks are used in business. Write a two page minimum typed paper $($pages do not include the cover page, table of contents or reference page$)$ AND create a chat like the example with your critical and non$-$critical tasks. To receive full points include a cover page, table of contents and a reference page. Cover each question topic completely. $($ a one or two sentence answer is considered not complete and results in loss of points.$)$ Submit all papers to the Drop Box.

All papers are due by midnight the day before the class. LATE PAPERS : loss of $1$ point per each day late. Papers will not be accepted after two weeks, all points are forfeited with no make up after two weeks.

EXAMPLE: Every process and project, regardless of its size or budget, has some core tasks that are crucial to its completion.

Take something as simple as making an omelet.

If you had to create a short recipe for making an omelet, it would look something like this:

Step #$1$ Beat $2$ eggs in a bowl or measuring cup

Step #$2$ Heat a pan, add butter$/$oil when hot

Step #$3$ Pour beaten eggs in the heated pan

Step #$4$ cook on one side for$($about $1$ minute.

Step #$5$ flip the eggs in half cook about $20$ seconds

Step #$6$ flip eggs to other side for about $20$ seconds

$*$Remove cooked omelet from pan and serve.

There are several other tasks you need to perform to make a good omelet.

You may want to season the eggs with salt and pepper. Maybe add some vegetables, meat and some cheese.

Perhaps you could flip it on the other side so the eggs are fully cooked through.

However, these activities are in$-$addition to the three core steps in the recipe. Even if you don$$t perform them, you$$ll still have an omelet.

Not a very good one, but an omelet nonetheless.

On the other hand, if you forget to beat the eggs, or heat the pan, or cook the eggs, you won$$t have anything but a cold pan and two eggs.

The critical tasks are necessary to make the omelet making project a success.
