Think of three situations in your personal or professional life where you might want to predict one variable from another variable. Please share this scenario and explain how your example would add valuable information.

1. I might want to predict the how many children my children will have based on their birth order.

This example might be useful in the literature about the personality and behavior of siblings based on birth order.First born children have been described as conscientious and overachievers in the literature.Middle children tend to be rebellious. While the baby of the family tends to be the peacemaker and easy going.I would predict that oldest children may not want many children, if any, because they grew up with siblings.

1. I might want to predict the number of pets a family has based on total family size.So, might a family with one child have multiple pets as compared to a large family with few or no pets.

We currently have five guinea pigs (totally by accident).Perhaps only children need playmates/companions, whereas sibling groups have each other for companionship.

1. I might want to predict the on-time arrival of employees based on the personality type indicator (MBTI) of their direct supervisor.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a well-known personality assessment often used in organizations to improve teamwork, management, and hiring practices.It would be interesting to see if employees were more or less likely to adhere to employee code of conduct standards based on the perceived personality profile of their supervisor as observed by the employee.
