Jewel cases are made of injection molded polystyrene (PS), chosen because it is cheap and easy to mold. Requirements Optical properties: transparent or optical quality Fracture toughness better than polystyrene (get data for PS from its record) Young's modulus not lower than polystyrene (to make sure the case is stiff enough) Able to be injection molded (use the 'tree' selection stage) Cost no more than twice that of polystyrene
