How do I peer respond and ask a question: Good Afternoon Class, For this weeks discussion I will be utilizing Guardian and Park Avenue Securities, my primary company that I work with being Guardian and Park Avenue being Guardians subsidiary for securities. One of the biggest threats that the industry faces and will always face will be regulatory risk. The law is constantly changing and insurance is primarily held at the state level with increased regulatory requirements primarily being at the state level but tend to lead other states to follow suit. Most notably lately was the Long Term Care requirement mandated by the state of Washington back in 2022 which gave state residents a 1 year window to either purchase the insurance themselves or pay a tax which resulted in the underwriters being flooded with applications and unable to process everything in a timely manner and other states are looking to implement their own versions of the decision in the following years. Then there is the 2025 sunset on estate taxes which will lower the estate tax threshold if unaddressed, increased income taxes in 2026 guaranteed, the 2025 California 401k mandate etc. The second largest threat to the financial industry is cyber security threats which are pretty constant. Obviously hackers would ideally want to get into some of the wealthiest institutions on the planet which are also safe harboring the private information of millions of people and their personally identifiable information. Naturally, in the current digital age financial institutions are among the largest targets for hackers
