Based on the article it is evident that the reward system at work (as long as it is implemented relatively), is crucial to an organization when it comes to both retention and talent development. Coaching on the negatives and providing constructive criticism is very easy, but rewarding your team for good behavior is much more effective. In my personal opinion coaching should be a 3:1 ratio. With every 3 instances of appreciative coaching, there is 1 instance of negative coaching. If your team is never rewarded and appreciated for good behavior they will never be motivated to do anything. This is why companies also have promotions and compensation bonuses, and raises to encourage employees to do better.
