How do I statistically calculate the null hypothesis?

H_o = There is no sex effect regarding those who can contract the plague in Malta and Gozo

H₁ = Females are more likely than males to contract the plague (Pfemales > Pmales) in both Malta and Gozo.

Data set for Malta:

Total patients - 15412

Males: 6495

Mild symptom's but recovered - 533

Marked symptom's but recovered - 1168

Very sick but recovered - 1858

Died -2936

Females: 8917

Mild symptom's but recovered - 439

Marked symptom's but recovered - 1484

Very sick but recovered - 2458

Data set for Gozo:

Total patients: 588

40% of these patients were female's

278 died of the plague
