The overall objective of the organization is integrated base defense, meaning to keep the assets within the perimeter safe and secure. However, due to logistical and geographical limitations, the execution is decentralized. The unit is split into 5 "S" functions, all with objectives and priorities for what is essential to support the mission. S1 is HR and where the command team resides, including the Senior Enlisted Leader and Commanding Officer. S2 is investigations, a specialist cell that deals with cases that require more in-depth policing and serves as a de facto internal affairs agency for the unit.
