How do you reply to a classmate about The 354th Security Forces Squadron is an organization with a vertical direction and lateral communication and execution. The overall objective of the organization is integrated base defense, meaning to keep the assets within the perimeter safe and secure. However, due to logistical and geographical limitations, the execution is decentralized. The unit is split into 5 "S" functions, all with objectives and priorities for what is essential to support the mission. S1 is HR and where the command team resides, including the Senior Enlisted Leader and Commanding Officer. S2 is investigations, a specialist cell that deals with cases that require more in-depth policing and serves as a de facto internal affairs agency for the unit. S3 is the most extensive section within the squadron, housing over 50% of the manning within the unit and being the primary executor of operations, hence why it is the operations section. S4 is Support, which contains everything from the armory, which houses our weapons, vehicles, supply, and everything in between. Finally, S5 is our plans and programs section, and they are responsible for long-term planning and documentation of plans, orders, and directives.
