How does a 4 solar mass star end up as a 1 solar mass white dwarf?

		Neighboring stars and planets pull the star apart when it is a giant.
		When an object contracts, its mass turns into density instead.
		Helium fusion turns most of the star's mass into energy.
		A stellar wind carries away most of the star's mass when it is a red giant.
		It spins so much faster as it contracts that much of the gas is thrown off.
