How does this sound, M&T Bank Reflection
First off, I just want to thank you again, Palmer, for the amazing opportunity we had on our trip to Buffalo. It was really nice to go to the airbnb you rented with all the passionate people in our class and alumni. Although I live in Buffalo, it was a very unique and fun experience to go to the different M&T buildings. It served as a really great opportunity to build connections and get my name out there. Which was the deciding factor on why I came to this college. I knew from the moment I met you in the stock market activity during orientation that this school had something more special in store than the others. You perfectly represent the Franciscan values above the stairs in Swan.
To be perfectly honest, I was not very close to some of the people in our class and wouldve strictly classified them as classmates. Just from that trip alone I would classify them as close companions. Not to over exaggerate or anything, but maybe one more event like that and I would consider saying family.
I was so surprised to see how friendly everyone was. I dont have a car so I hitchhiked a ride with Scooter, Julia, Brady and Mark, which was very nice of them. Especially since I was so out of the way from everyone. The whole ride to M&T Bank we all laughed and talked and really seemed to get a deeper bond and shared a bit of our personal lives with each other Julias idea We even stopped and went to Target and ChickFilA before we got to the airbnb sorry we didnt get you anything As soon as we parked at the Airbnb I was a little nervous, not only to meet some of the people already there, but especially since downtown Buffalo scares me a bit. Immediately after we walked into the Airbnb though Alden, Awak and David all greeted me and I immediately got a sense of comfort. Everyone else who trickled in was super nice too. Instead of everyone greeting like classmates, it seemed more like friends.
Talking to the alumni was really neat. Out of all the alumni there in my opinion, I liked Drew Blum, Rebecca Sienko, and Holly Hartman the most.
I liked Drew Blum a lot because I had some sort of connection with him. I didnt know who he was, but he and my dad had somewhat correlated lives. They both invested in a lot of real estate when they were younger and then transitioned to the food business. Just my Dad was geared toward the restaurant side and Drew was more towards the supplier side. It was interesting to hear more about what goes down especially in that sort of industry. Also how he rose up to become the CEO of a multimillion dollar company.
My personal favorite was probably Rebecca Sienko because she was just HILARIOUS. Ive never met anyone that much of a bubbly personality other than maybe Kaylee Grace. She was very honest with everyone and you could really tell she wanted the best for everyone there. It was nice to hear how supportive she was about our plan for BonaNET. She also offered pretty good advice to our group.
I think my group could agree with me when I say that our most beneficial talk was with Holly Hartman. She was the perfect fit for what we were trying to do with BonaNET at that stage. As you know, she is a global event marketer so she had great tips to give us with posters and how to draw more attention to them like font, placement, etc Not to mention how kind she was. You could really tell that she wanted us to have the most success possible with the upcoming BonaNET.
Just because I singled out these three alumni doesnt mean that the rest were bad. I think everyone there had their own unique attribute that they brought to the discussion. I love how they all started off the group conversations the same almost like they rehearsed it They all asked where we lived on campus and their experiences at St Bonaventure. It was really cool to hear some of the stories about Dev and the off campus houses that I didnt know existed. I wish I had my business cards that day so I couldve stood out more when getting in contact with them. Overall, It was such a blessing to hear from all of them at the airbnb. It was definitely worth the drive there. After we left it was interesting to hear how everyone else thought it went. Everyone had at least one thing beneficial they learnedenjoyed and something funny like a party story from the alumni.
Now about the trip to M&T itself. I enjoyed being able to drive down with my Dad since I rarely see him, especially now that Im at school. He gave me good advice on how I could stand out and encouraged me to ask a lot of questions in case I would want an internship there in the future.
As soon as I entered the M&T building I got a strong sense of community. Employees were actually laughing and seemed to enjoy their job. You could tell M&T does a lot for their employees to try to bring enjoyment into work. For example, as soon as you walked in the building there was a Josh Allen cutout. Also, they had a game roo
