For physical materials, a "product record is set up in the CRM by the content owner. Production quantities (for physical materials) and use of all material is tracked in the CRM, so that it is clear when there are remaining quantities when the material finally expires (usually 2 years after approval unless set otherwise). The content owner is notified when the expiry date is approaching, so they can have the materials reapproved if they are still relevant.
