If you are organized and prepared for the interview, then it will show. Companies like people that take the time and make the effort to be prepared. You must show up a little early, be very professionally dressed, have a well written, well formatted cover letter and resume. I will also suggest not to be afraid to look into the hidden job market. These are jobs that are not advertised and may be more difficult to obtain. You may have to do some research to see if you can network with others that are in the field that you want to be in. In the hidden job market, a big piece of it is who you know. This is why I would suggest to mingle, do some research to see what you can find and who you can meet. The "in" may be based on who you know but the determination of getting the job will still be determined on your first impression
