How to understand various currency quotes?
For example, EUR is the price currency in both quotations. USD is the base currency is both quotations. The only difference is the order is switched.
Quotation 1: USD/EUR1.2174 (EUR Price currency on the left)
Quotation 2: EUR1.2174/USD (EUR Price currency on the right)
Are there specific countries or market players who put base/price on a particular side? I understand the use of indirect and direct quotes and how the base and price can be switched, my question rather is about how they are physically displayed as EUR price on right in one place and then EUR price on left in another place.
Thanks!
