I believe retailing is headed towards being more online than it already is. Most stores already have an online format because it is a way to keep customers interested in buying. I do think there will still be store channels, however those stores are likely to have a physical and an online shop to reach as many customers as possible. As more shops move online, it is likely the formats will improve and adapt to become more user friendly for different online platforms. I also expect for some larger businesses, more will create apps specific to their business, where customers can shop and have items delivered to them.

Retail is headed towards a majority of online purchases. 85 percent of US Adults have smartphones compared to only 35 percent ten years ago. We have been trained to use the internet for making online purchases. There's less fear making online purchases and it's been normalized as a routine behavior. I think that social media websites will create options for consumers to make purchases directly in their apps. They will probably get referral fees or a small percentage of sales and customers will receive the added convenience of quicker seamless transactions. The majority of physical retail stores will likely become company branded experiences to showcase their latest products with customer service representatives. I think that retail stores will shrink in size as they keep less inventory and are used primarily for product displays, customer service interaction and returns. Customer service jobs at stores will be assisting customers with ordering products on tablets in stores with same day delivery as customers will not have to carry bags of product after purchases. I think this is a possibility because of the increased logistics delivery speed. Most company's offer same day shipping and Amazon May lead the next generation of deliveries with drone technology. I can see a future in which deliveries are made daily through drone drop offs.

I believe that retailing is going in the direction of a lot more online shopping for goods and services.eCommerce has become more popular in recent years since many people have the internet and it's convenient.I know if I need to buy a gift, I'd rather shop online than go into a store.I believe COVID was the catalyst of the recent extensive rapid growth rate in eCommerce, since no one wanted to leave their house to buy groceries or many other necessities before the vaccine or even since the beginning of COVID times. Before that, people mainly shopped online for convenience or if their local store didn't carry the specific item they were looking for.My job is in grocery retail and when COVID lockdowns started and more people found out that we deliver groceries and also offer the option to order online and pick up at the store with no contact, the number of people using the services skyrocketed.A lot of customers said that they didn't even know we offered pick up and delivery and have continued to use these services even after the lockdowns ended. We experienced significant growth in eCommerce sales that started at the beginning of COVID and have maintained. The use of technology for convenience is only going to increase and while the boomer generation ages out, children are learning technology from a very early age, so they will all be pros at using technology to take care of the things they need to.The use of technology is only going to expand and become more convenient.

Technology will meet the needs of a higher population by making it easier to shop because technology can handle more traffic.Keeping technology updated and maintained will be expensive, so the cost may be passed on to the customer, but customers will be making more money so it would just flow right along with inflation and probably not be noticed by the consumer.

There will still be brick and mortar stores because there are a lot of people who need what they are looking for right then and can't wait for shipping.Grocery stores will also stay relevant as I think a lot of people like selecting their own groceries.I know I do.Convenience stores will be around for those quick purchases you need but I still believe that most shopping, aside from the ones I've just mentioned, will be done online.
