I was blown away by the number of people who have been affected by identity theft which includes fraud. According to the website www.Identitytheft.orgLinks to an external site. 5.7 million people have experienced this horror in the last year. The losses topped $10.2 billion with a median loss for victims of about $500. Furthermore, the website indicated that 33% of Americans will experience some sort of identity fraud/theft in their lifetime. One third of the population, unbelievable and unacceptable in my opinion."
