Daryl Smith 16 hours ago Week 4 a. Describe the two professions you chose, including a brief description of their responsibilities and educational backgrounds. a. My first choice is a physician who is responsible for treating and caring for individuals, diagnosing appropriately, essentially they are responsible for life. Education consists of undergraduate, (premed) residency, must get a bachelors degree, then they become bad certified in whatever specialty they chose. My second choice is nursing assistant, They assist with bed changes, answering call lights, and making sure patients/residents are fed. Education consists of 75 hours of training and passing a competency. b. Describe a potential conflict that might arise between the two individuals. This might be a communication breakdown, confusion of responsibilities, competing priorities, etc. a. Potential conflict would be that the doctor may feel the CNA works for him/her and not with him/her. When there is a huge difference. The provider might ask more of the CNA then she is skilled for and that may cause a disagreement. Also the provider might ask the CNA to complete something that is out of her/his cope of practice, which if done can cause a whole world of problems. c. Explain how, as a manager, you would create an environment that would help to avoid the conflict above. In addition, explain how you would deal with the conflict after it has happened. a. I would make a clear understanding that nobody works for anybody and we are all here to care patients. I would educate the provider(s) what a CNA is expected to do, so there would be no more miscommunication. I would ask the provider to defer to me with any issues with tasks not being completed. After the conflict I would check in more with provider staff and CNA staff to make sure everybody's scope of practice is clear and everybody is on the same Reply
