Exercise 10-11. This item is a question for discussion and study. Imagine that you have been granted immediate graduation from your school. Congratulations! You have also landed a very good job as an advisor to the president. The president is facing budget trouble and wants to know how voters will react to three policy proposals: a tax hike, a tax cut, or leaving tax rates unchanged. It is your job to decide upon a research design or strategy that would best suit the problem. What you want to know is how public support for the president will change over time if taxes are cut, raised, or left at the status quo. Briey answer the following questions: What type of research design would give you the best internal or external validity? How could you demonstrate that your results were reliable?
