HRPD 710 - Mediator Evaluation Report Individual Assignment
Introduction:
Learning to mediate is a valuable skill for Human Resource Professionals. Those skilled in mediation have tools and methods to help resolve internal and external conflicts in the workplace. This Assignment will assess how well you can follow the steps to a mediated settlement.
Assignment:
In this assignment you will produce a Mediation Evaluation Report based on the feedback you receive from the participants in the mediation you conduct. You will need to apply and demonstrate the steps in the mediation process. Your mediation will last approximately an hour.
At the completion of your mediation, you will ask both parties to give you constructive feedback on the mediation that they had just experienced.
Note to Participants: If you are playing a role in the mediation, you must provide clear and constructive feedback to your Mediator as to your experience in the mediation. Tell the Mediator what they did well and what you think might help them to improve.
Content of Report:
The Mediation Evaluation Report length may vary, but 4-6 pages is sufficient. Include the following in your Mediator Evaluation Report.
Content of Report:
Name of Case Used and Names of Participants in the Simulation
Summary of each persons feedback on your performance as mediator
Your thoughts on each of your mediators performance in each case you were a participant (what they did well, did poorly, didnt do, etc.)
Your self-evaluation as a mediator
What did you see as the main issues in this dispute?
How did you determine the interests of the parties?
Following the steps in the mediation process covered in class, describe any problems you encountered?
Provide examples of how you transitioned from Determining Interests to Setting Out the Issues.
What was the most difficult part of the mediation for you? What would you do differently the next time? What do you need to work on to be a more effect mediator?
Please Note: Reaching a settlement or solution is good but is not always possible. If you did not, this will not affect your mark. Do not focus your report on whether you reach a solution but on assessing your skill as a mediator.
