Human beings sit at the end of a long evolutionary lineage going back to the first fish-like
Question:
Human beings sit at the end of a long evolutionary lineage going back to the first fish-like chordates some 400–500 MYA. This means us human beings are not only related to the rest of the animals, we are animals; however, we don't often think of ourselves that way. In this discussion, we will look at how much of the animal is left in the human suit. Instructions For this exercise you will be the scientific observer, and your subject animal will be Homo sapiens. Go to a place where there are some H. sapiens to observe, such as a coffee shop, mall, or other habitat where they can be found. Observe your subjects. List any behaviors you see that are related to growth and/or development, maintaining homeostasis, responding to stimuli, metabolizing energy, or reproduction. Afterwards, start a post and do the following:
List the behaviors you observed for each of the categories above. Pick three of these that you feel are most similar to what other animals do. Explain. Are there any behaviors you can think of that are uniquely human? Did you observe any of these behaviors? Why are they unique to H. sapiens? Describe in your own words how you think human beings fit into the rest of the animal kingdom.
