HVAC Ventilation System and fan Selection A school classroom in Amman is designed for 40 students 50/50% girls and boys. The classroom with plan dimensions of 15 x 40 ft. Wind of 15 mph (wintertime) and 7.5 mph (summertime) blows at an angle of 30 deg to one of the long dimensions of the building. Suggest an appropriate clothing for students. Use ĂSHREA Standards as the reference. Part 1. a. What would be the set of the thermostat and relative humidity that satisfy comfortable conditions for winter and summer times. b. What rate of outdoor air would be required? 1. if based on the number of people. 2. if based on the floor area 3. which of the two needs to be considered for HVAC design? c. Assume natural ventilation to provide the required air rate, where air can flow into the space through an opening in the front wall. Calculate the opening area assuming flow coefficient of 0.7. d. Using the mass balance analysis as suggested by (ANSI'ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007] and as demonstrated in Table D1 below and based on the suggested typical HVAC ventilation system as shown in the figure associated with Table D1, determine the outdoor air ventilation requirement to control indoor CO2 acceptable level due to breathing process of the students.
