A quasi-experiment research study with a pretest-posttest design

Research Problem Statement

The problem is that fifty percent of standardized test scores in core subject areas declined in an urban school district for students in Grades 7 through 12 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Research Purpose Statement

The purpose of this quantitative study is toinvestigate the pandemic's impact on learning and the significant risk to student achievement on standardized tests in core subject areas

Research Questions & Hypotheses

1. What difference exists, if any, between pre-covid and post-covid middle school math standardized test scores?

H₀: No statistically significant difference exists between students' pre-covid and students' post covid standardized test scores in a middle school math class.

H₁:A statistically significant difference exists betweenstudents' pre-covid and students' post covid standardized test scores in a middle school math class.

2. What difference exists, if any, in student test scores between rural students and urban students in post- covid learning environments?

H₀: No statistically significant difference exists betweenrural students and urban students in post-covid learning environments
