I. BACKGROUND

Benzene is an important intermediate compound used in the manufacture of numerous compounds including ethylbenzene $($and other alkylbenzenes$),$ cumene, cyclohexane, and nitrobenzene. It is also an additive in gasoline to reduce engine knock. Through the numerous products made using benzene, it is ultimately used in the production of plastics, polystyrene, epoxies and nylons.

II$.$ DESIGN PROJECT SCOPE

You are required to design a Benzene production plant. This includes the following:

Conducting a feasibility analysis,

A process simulation

Equipment design of three distinct units: a reactor, a heat exchanger, and a separation column.

Heat integration $($pinch analysis and water pinch analysis$)$

Quantitative Economic analysis

Qualitative and Quantitative Safety and environmental risk assessment.
