I do believe that I value diversity. Simply as a woman in this world, I know what it is like to be discriminated against and to be undervalued for my talents. Within my work, I strive to not only provide quality service but to also empower women in the field of logistics. I currently employ a range of people from different backgrounds, races, genders, etc. Up until the current century, women have been primarily the caregivers of the family and not necessarily the bread winners. However, with more women choosing to work, hopefully soon there will not be "women leaders" and simply just "leaders". Empowerment and motivation to the younger generation of women to encourage them to step into leadership roles can immensely help to grow and change this situation. There have been studies done that show organizations with higher levels of gender diversity in the leadership realm have an average of 21% higher likelihood to achieve above-average profitability. If we look at the numbers as opposed to the feelings associated with regards to diverse leadership, organizations can be encouraged to practice diversity and inclusion more often. While there may be people that resist to diversity practices, it is here to stay. Openness and effective communication can encourage those who are resistant to this change.
