Is it consistent with the Supreme Court's role as the ultimate organ of the law for a Supreme Court justicelet alone a bloc of justicesto allow individual political views to influence the outcome of any given case? Since the other two co-equal branches of government are fundamentally political institutions, if it appears that Supreme Court decisions are driven by political consideration (i.e., they are susceptible to being legitimately characterized as "conservative" or "liberal"), does that make the Supreme Court an extension of the political branches of government? What does that say about the "rule of law"? Is there a way for this balance of power on the Court to change? If so, how?
