I don't understand why this difference occurs. In the first picture, the phase angle $=0$ starts at the east and increases as it rotates counterclockwise. In the second picture, $=0$ starts at the north and increases as it rotates counterclockwise. In the third picture, $=0$ starts at the north but increases as it rotates clockwise. Why do the standards for the axis and direction differ between these pictures? It's confusing.
