I enjoyed Arthur Benjamin's standpoint on emphasizing education when it comes to the principles of math. This happens to be a widely supported application and emphasis on Fibonacci's numbers, and I was actually surprised by the versatility of its real world significance. An application of these numbers really struck me as odd, which was looking at square roots as specified in the video, which gave me a new outlook on the application and usage of square numbers, and how they coincide to actually give you significantly better understanding of doing square roots. Numbers also have various biological applications, for example when looking at patterns, such as the rings of trees and the petals of flowers. We know that Fibonacci's sequence of numbers is old but it's crazy just how old, as it looks to be dated back to around 200bc. One oddity that continues to plague me within these numbers is that it does not represent the number zero, which I would assume would be an applicable number, but apparently it's simply just the one. Going back to Benjamin, he did state reasons for the mathematics: the first reason being calculation, the second reason being mathematics, and the third reason being inspiration. For three to be an application, all these make perfect sense. I did try to get a gander at the book that was written that was given to the western world to help influence them and start them on their path to mathematics, and although I have yet been able to find it, it is still quite exciting to have such an old relic of history that we still use today and it is just as beneficial.
