I got a essay question concering game theory. The background information is that two firms choose whether to pollute or not pollute simultaneously. Howver, in the question the payoffs are given in the form of alphabet P M O N ( please see the attached document) instesad of real numbers. I think this is a game similar to prisoner dilemma and want to applly prisoner dilemma to answer the questions. But since it is an essay question, I wonder is it vaild to state that this is a game similar to prisoner dillmmea because I have observed the form of matrix and conclude that this question can be answered by applying prisoner dillema . Since prisoner dilemma has real numbers but in my question payoffs are alphabets instead. Furthermore, there's no information about the relationship among payoffs( like P is greater than M , etc) So I think it might be violation of academic rigor if I choose to solve the question applying prisoner dilemma only because there is a similirity in form as prisoner dilemma( please see the attached matrix for my question) Do you think I need further evidence to prove it is a prisoner dilemma or it is suffice to say that the matrix form is similar to that in prisoner dilemma so I can apply prisoner dilemma? thank you. I do not even know how to prove or research something .
