Excel has built-in functions such as the SUM function and SUBTRACT function. The reason why we need these functions is that when we add revenues and add expenses, we are looking for totals in order to calculate Net Profit. Another reason why it would be ideal to use Excel is that most users would not have the knowledge and tools to make an income statement in Access.
