I had to create a teaching resource that is focused on facilitating learning in Measurement and Geometry.
A learning resource is something that you can take into the classroom or early childhood setting and use as a tool for teaching that particular mathematical concept. Our resource had to be handmade and classroom-ready, be made from recycled materials. suitable for a play-based pedagogical approach to mathematics.
I've created a mathematic game focusing on half hour time for year 1 students - suitable in the Australian curriculum.
I'm using an egg carton and a marble. Inside the egg carton is 12 different digital times with half past times on them. Students will place the marble inside the carton shake it and manipulate the time on a handmade clock with hands. Showing the ability to recognise and learn digital and analogue times.
Part 2 of the assignment needed to include an ICT-based introduction explaining to the children how to use the resource.
The ICT-based introduction should be directly related to the resource, highlight the mathematics that the resource will focus on
This is the child friendly video link I have chosen to introduce my half an hour time to students https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rrayvaGIuMYln
With this information can you help me with part 3
Part 3 should be a written justification that explains:
- why your resource is effective in teaching your chosen area (linked to research, curriculum and course materials) and how it is suitable for a play-based pedagogical approach
- how the ICT-based introduction will scaffold engagement with the resource and enhance the mathematical potential of the resource
- how you will assess children's learning.
