I have a data sheet uploaded into SPSS. I am looking to measure an independent variable of household income for 100 people against a dependable of heart disease. The household income ranges are vast and I would like to give them a range of low, medium, high, and very high. I have tried going to transform recode into same variables and recode into different variables and I just cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I just want the income variable to have 4 ranges so the output is not so long. How can I create a range for this variable in SPSS?
