FIN 380 Spring 2016 Project The project is designed for estimating the Intrinsic Value of a stock based on the Free-cash flow valuation. Specifically, you choose Two public companies. You download the recent financial statements (10-K in an Excel file) such as I/S and B/S from the U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission website (EDGAR) or Capital IQ. Once you have the data available, you should be able to estimate the intrinsic value of each stock. You can work on the project using Excel and submit the results on paper by May 6 (Fri). 1. Choose Two public companies. 2. Share Value 2.1. Download both I/S and B/S (10-K) for the recent fiscal year from the SEC website. (http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html) 2.2. Forecast the 5-year I/S and B/S based on the Sales Approach (Refer to Ch. 9 \"Forecasted Financial Statements (FFS) Method\"). You make several assumptions including the sales growth rate and the WACC. 2.3. Construct the Free-cash-flow table and figure out the Total intrinsic (Enterprise) value. 2.4. Estimate the value of equity by adding marketable short-term securities & cash and subtracting the value of debt or preferred stock 2.5. Figure out a share value by dividing the equity value by a number of outstanding shares. (Refer to the \"Firm valuation (Ch8&9)\" excel file on Blackboard)
