The organization I selected for my capstone project is Capital Regional Medical Center (CRMC) servicing the North Florida area. A fully accredited healthcare facility, it has more than 1,100 employees, approximately 500 physicians, and 266 beds. It includes a Bariatric Center, Comprehensive Breast Center, Cancer Center, and 24/7 Emergency Services in Leon & Gadsden County (1).

The issues that Im most excited about exploring are Improving Incident reporting and Increase Hospital Nurse Retention. Incident reporting is best suited for organizations that face higher incident numbers that they are required to report, including residential addiction or mental recovery facilities (2).

The narrower your definition of your market, the easier it is for you to be the top player, which can lead to a false sense of accomplishment as well as, unintentionally, limit your potential for growth (3). Instead, try to cast your net wider because as you broaden the vision of your market, your opportunities for growth expand as well (3). Technological advancements are one of the biggest changes the healthcare industry is facing. Theyre changing the very face of medicine as we know it, in large part because of how the Internet of Things is more and more becoming part of the daily fabric of our lives (4). Additionally, people are starting to get healthcare advice more via their mobiles or computers than in an actual doctors office (4). Otherwise known as telemedicine, this shift is going to make a huge difference, especially in rural areas, and it will also popularize preventative medicine instead of emergency treatment (4).
