I need a response to my classmate's discussion post.
"First and foremost, I must do my own research. As a person with several food and skin sensitivities, I must take precautions even when the product claims to be gentile because everyone is different. People are naturally inclined to seek the opinion of others before trying something new, so social media platforms like Facebook are popular sites to source information with over 2.2 billion users. Being well-liked on these platforms isn't something that is optional for most businesses (Murph, 2020). Word of Mouth and personal social networks are also ways that consumers receive recommendations before buying. Combine that with any pre-purchase awareness or brand consideration that the customer might already be familiar with, and decisions are made. As a consumer, I rely heavily on customer reviews when I am considering a purchase. I noticed that often I will go straight to the bad reviews of a product to see if any of the complaints will have any bearing on my decision. Sometimes a bad review can be to product of a scorned customer and have nothing to do with the product or its function however, you can easily discern between an honest review and one meant to harm the products image.
Influencers, or word of mouth generators have become an integral part of the recommendation system because consumers trust their friends and family. They trust people they perceive as being like themselves. Word of mouth works on products that are likely to create excitement where one person can tell a message to somebody who can, in turn, pass it on to multiple other people (Iacobucci, 2018). These people, in turn, spread the word in a snowball fashion."
