Clinic has two nurse practitioners (NP) and an average revenue of $3,500 per patient visit, and an NP spends on average 8 minutes to process a patient although there is significant variability in this time. Assume the time is exponentially distributed. Each NP is paid $10,000 of base hourly salary (regardless of seeing a patient) plus additional $7,000/hour for the time that they are actually seeing a patient. For example, if a NP worked for 5 hours and saw patients for 3.5 hours during those 5 hours, the payment will be $10,000*5+$7,000*3.5 = $74,500. Clinic operates from 8AM to 8PM. a. Suppose that the patients arrive at a rate of 10.2/hour. The time between patients is approximately exponentially distributed. What is the daily cost for both NPs at the clinic? b.
