Rosie's Red T-shirt Company produces a single style of red t-shirt and sells them on their website. Rosie makes t-shirts on a single line with one machine and one operator at each workstation. The customers all place their orders online through the company's e-commerce website. The orders are then accumulated by the plant manager and the number of shirts that need to be produced is verbally communicated to the first workstation employee. The shipping label information is electronically sent to the last workstation, packaging. The supplies arrive at the facility via truck from the Generic Fabric Company. The aterage time the raw materials are held in inventory before they are used is 1 day. The first station is fabric cutting. It takes 10 minutes to cut the fabric for one unit. The cut fabric then goes into the cut fabric inventory where it waits for the second step in the process. The cut fabric spends an average of 12 hours in cut fabric inventory. The second station is fabric sewing. It takes 30 minutes to sew one unit. After sewing the t-shirts spend an average of 1 hour in shirt inventory while they wait for the final station. The final workstation is packaging where the shirts are folded, packaged, and labeled for delivery. Packaging takes an average of 5 minutes per unit. There shirts are shipped via truck to the customer as they are completed each day so there is no need to identify the finished goods inventory wait time. There is no quality waste or operator or equipment downtime in this system
